Grand Millennial is my *favorite* decorating style that I’ve been lovingly welcoming into my home decor and styling. If you’re unfamiliar with the aesthetic, it’s a combination of your grandmother’s wallpaper + antique oil paintings + a few modern pieces here and there to keep it fresh.
When photo styling, keeping current design trends, color palettes, and aesthetics in mind is not only a great way to stay relevant but add diversity to your imagery.
Far from the minimalist style that was everywhere just a couple of years ago, Grand Millennial is a more is more style that speaks to my soul. I thought I had finally found my *perfect* design aesthetic….
Until I heard about Coastal Grandmother.
Coastal Grandmother is defined by the style of director Nancy Meyers – the genius behind Something’s Gotta Give, The Holiday, and It’s Complicated (just to name a few). Coastal Grandmother is equal parts laid back beach and high-quality simplicity. It’s firmly rooted in a color palette of white, beige, blue, and green.
As you consider your imagery and products for summer 2022, weaving this design style into your brand is a great way to show your audience that you have impeccable taste and a deep understanding of current trends. This could mean styling your imagery with beach-inspired elements, or a more subtle nod by using shades of blue, cream, and green.
Incorporating new trends into your brand doesn’t mean abandoning your carefully crafted aesthetic but offers opportunities to try something new. Take what works, and leave what doesn’t.
What do you think about the Coastal Grandmother Aesthetic? Will you be incorporating this style into any of your new products, imagery, or branding?
